These are great courses for exploring the islands of the Clyde estuary and are suitable for all sailors from complete beginner to the very experienced. The time afloat can also count as sea time towards cruising qualifications or for completing the RYA Start Yachting syllabus. Many just go for fun!
These 2 day cruises start and finish at Largs Yacht haven. Cruises begin on a Friday evening, quite often with a short passage to Cumbrae or Bute. The boats are comfortable and well equipped. There is so much scope on the Clyde for two days that we can always select routes and places to visit suited to the weather conditions. Everyone onboard will be encouraged to try the variety of roles on the yacht before departing on the Sunday, about 4pm, with a better understanding of sailing.Equipment and Kit Information
The cruising activities are enjoyed onboard one of our 2 yachts. The Centre currently has a 37ft Salona named Somerled and a 38ft Salona named Santa Vey. Both yachts are perfectly suited to the waters around the Clyde and the west coast of Scotland. They provide up to 5 berths for clients and all courses and cruises are led by one of our experienced instructors.
Food is provided throughout the cruise. If required, waterproof sets and lifejackets are on-board each yacht. All other clothing is the responsibility of the sailor and we recommend bringing warm comfortable clothing which is easy to layer, a warm hat, gloves, suitable footwear, towel and toiletries and of course suntan lotion.
If you are choosing an RYA course requiring individual chart work, then please bring your own navigation tools.×
Weekend cruises generally depart from Largs Yacht Haven. Our instructor will welcome you onboard at 1930hrs on the Friday evening and the boat will return to Largs around 1630hrs on the Sunday.
Food provisions for the duration are on-board, you are free to bring extras that you may wish. Eating ashore is sometimes an option but is an additional personal expense and not always on offer due to location.
