The course to become an RYA Racing Coach L2 is an intense 2 days looking at the theory of coaching and applying it in a practical series of on the water exercises. Using single handed dinghies and coaching from a rib each candidate will be expected to run complete race training sessions including a brief, on the water exercise with feedback and a debrief. The course Tutor will provide guidance and feedback to the candidates who will have the chance to develop their briefing and debriefing skills over these 2 days.
A qualified RYA Level 2 Racing Coach is a good club racer with personal knowledge of club and/or regional racing and a broad basis of coaching skills. They will be able to deliver and award Start (can be delivered and awarded at RTCs only), Intermediate and Advanced Racing where appropriate, working at RYA affiliated clubs or recognised training centres.

The centre will provide the dinghies, powerboats and indoor teaching areas required for you to perform the practical elements of the course.
Getting wet is unavoidable on many of these courses so we will make sure you have the correct gear. A wetsuit, wetsuit boots, buoyancy aid and waterproof top is available for your use and can be dried overnight ready for the next day’s action. In addition we would request you bring garments such as swim wear, woolly hat and warm socks. Hot showers are available in the changing areas and accommodation areas so bring a towel.×
Main timings of our day are:
Meals times. Breakfast: 0830hrs Lunch: 1230hrs Dinner: 1800hrs
All meals are served in the dining area.
Activity times. Your activity will run from 0930 – 1630hrs. Your instructors will guide you with clothing, activity and the content of the sessions.
Evenings are generally free time unless your course has specific tutelage incorporated or activities have been pre arranged.×
