Candidates should be competent to the standard of the Intermediate Powerboat Certificate with a thorough knowledge of navigation and chartwork to the level of the Coastal Skipper/RYA Yachtmaster Shorebased certificate. First aid and VHF certificates are required before a certificate can be issued.
Your decision making skills will be challenged on this course and your ability to apply good navigation in accordance with weather and other influences. We generally use the Ribs for this course and may even use the workboat.
If your interest is to helm a power driven craft that is not a RIB we now also offer Motor cruiser courses. There are Close Quarter options or Weekend Cruises, both cover elements of the RYA Helmsman certificate. You can do this using our vessel or your own boat.
