Expect to be tested on personal paddling, environmental awareness, leadership, tidal planning and safety and rescue techniques. We will provide a maximum of 4 paddlers would we will expect you to lead in a moderate water environment on the sea.
All equipment you present yourself with at assessment will be treated as your own, so please familurise yourself with any equipment you have borrowed. As a leader you must know what you’ve got and importantly how to use it!
During this assessment you will be asked to demonstrate your navigation and leadership skills. Whilst the centre can provide charts and tidal almanacs you should turn up with a knowledge of the sea area, tidal considerations and a means to navigate effectively. On this assessment course you may also want to bring pens, note pad and suitable wet notes. The centre has wet lecture facilities, including AV equipment, white board, flip charts and pens.
Plastic. The time is right to highlight the devastating effect that plastic is having on our fragile marine environment. In an effort to reduce this burden we are making small steps and ask that our customers refrain from bringing plastic bags or plastic bottles on this course. Pack lunches will be provided and opportunities to fill up water bottles and flasks will be given at the start of the course.×
