Centre Review Statement

Following the sportscotland board meeting on August 28th:

“Throughout the review of the Cumbrae National Watersports Centre, we have committed to taking the time required to make a considered and informed decision. The sportscotland Board has agreed in principle with the recommendation of the Trust Board that a new National Sailing Academy is the preferred option. The sportscotland Board is keen to further explore this option in partnership with the RYA Scotland and Largs Sailing Club.

“We believe that exploring this option will allow improved use of existing infrastructure to create a national academy that will support the future growth of sailing in Scotland and the long-term sustainability of the sport.

“In the meantime, Cumbrae National Watersports Centre will remain open for business. However, as agreed with staff in April, as part of an efficiency drive the centre will move to a season model with the centre closed form 30 November 2019 - 1 March 2020.”
