Marine Scotland, the directorate of Scottish Government with responsibility for integrated management of Scotland’s seas, has identified a lack of essential information about how people use the sea for recreation and tourism. Their survey aims to change that.
At Cumbrae we’re committed to supporting and developing marine tourism, as David Frame, Chief Instructor explains:
“It’s essential that there’s more understanding about the wide variety of ways in which people use our seas. A survey like this is crucial to this understanding. By delivering the largest training programme in Scotland, in a wide variety of watersports, we see the way in which an inspirational experience on their first venture afloat can hook a participant into a healthy life long activity. Also, as the largest provider of Instructor Training courses, across a full range of disciplines, we witness our instructors going on to support and grow the industry, not just in Scotland, but the UK and beyond. We are therefore in a unique position to see first hand the diverse range of uses the sea has to offer as we strive to continually develop activities that support marine tourism”.
