Get inspired at our PYT information day!  7th Feb.

Considering a career change, a gap year or gaining employment in the sailing industry? Maybe you want to confidently cruise your own yacht throughout the world? If so, the RYA Yachtmaster course could be for you!

This is an intensive and rewarding course, lasting around 17/18 weeks, with approximately 75 days on the water and 25 days ashore, working towards RYA/MCA DoT Yachtmaster with commercial endorsement.

It’s a large commitment so prospective participants often have lots of questions! We’ll be addressing these at our information day, giving you a clear picture as to what to expect during the course. So go on, come along and find out if this is something for you!

Feedback from Past PYT Students

Completing their PYT last year was Malcom Lord, from Thurso, and Rob Geisler, from Vermont, USA. Both sum up their experiences below:

“The program includes self sails without an instructor to gain required skippered passages and this was a particular highlight for me. However, I also enjoyed sailing with the range of instructors, in thoroughly testing conditions!” (Malcom Lord).

“I was unable to find a similar comprehensive sailing program in the U.S. and that’s why I chose to go to Cumbrae for my training. The entire RYA Training Scheme is the best I was able to find anywhere” (Rob Geisler).
