Learn to windsurf, from RYA Start windsurfing courses up to advanced windsurfing clinics from waterstarts to carve gibing.

Windsurfing in Scotland is an exhilarating sport with a quick learning curve and many challenges. This is definitely a sport where you will get your hair wet!

Our Windsurf instructors use all the latest equipment and the new fastfwd teaching method which provides a more simplistic approach through lots of practical sessions. For information on T15, an RYA initiative to get young people windsurfing see below

Windsurfing

Age 12 +

An opportunity to try windsurfing using modern stable boards. The day will be wet, fun and exhilarating. These days can combine with a Dinghy Sailing “Try a Day” to make a weekend of new activities. Also if you subsequently book onto any of our 2 day windsurfing courses the cost of this day will be deducted from that course

RYA Start Windsurfing Course

Age 16 +

Start here and learn the basic skills of windsurfing. The centre has suitable boards and rigs for all ages to help you get going quickly.

Skills Development

Age 16 +

Using the latest gear, you will be working towards planing skills - use of harness, footstraps and beach starting. This course replaces the L 2/3 course and is suitable for anyone having completed a Start windsurfing course or equivalent.

These dates are programmed in anticipation of wind. This is an opportunity to build upon your planing skills, crack the Waterstart or nail that elusive carve gybe.

Windsurf Clinics

Age 15 +

Have your windsurf skills plateaued? Take advantage of our expert staff to push you and your friends to the next level. Clinics need a minimum of 3 people to run.
These may include : Beachstarting Gybing Waterstarts Footstraps and harness Getting going
Alternatively bring your own kit and our instructors can guide you through setting it up efficiently.
Clinics can cover any area of the RYA windsurf syllabus.

Windsurfing Evening Sessions

Age 9 +

If you are relatively local to Largs or Cumbrae this is the ideal way of getting afloat and enjoying the summer evenings. All kit is provided. Suitable for beginners and experienced sailors of all ages from 9 upwards Transport available from and to Largs Yacht Haven; pick up 6pm sharp and return for 9pm. Due to the huge popularity of the evening sailing, all evening sessions must now be booked and paid for as a block. Refunds will not be given in the event of non-attendance.
