SCHOOL TRIPS

At Cumbrae we have a vast amount of experience working with school groups to deliver taster sessions and longer residential trips. We are an OnBoard Centre. This means we work with the Royal Yachting Association and Active Schools Coordinators to get as many young people on the water as possible.

We are part of the ‘Sail to Learn’ scheme that uses sailing to help teach parts of the ‘ Curriculum for Excellence’ and has set lessons to cover many of the learning outcomes.

Cumbrae’s Junior and Youth courses are also very popular with school pupils on the Duke of Edinburgh scheme working towards the physical, skills, expedition or residential parts of either the Bronze, Silver or highly sought after Gold award.

Safety

Cumbrae is fully licensed with AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority) and has a yearly inspection from the RYA. Risk assessments are available upon request by a teacher to save time filling in the paper work when bringing a school group away. Our staff are well qualified, enthusiastic and have lots of experience working with school groups to make sure your stay is fun, safe and educational. All instructional staff are checked with Disclosure Scotland and hold an up to date first aid certificate.
