KAYAKING
Kayaking is a rewarding activity and the centre can equip you with the skills to get you started for sea or river kayaking. Our instructors teach to a very high standard and are happy to deliver tailored sessions.
Cumbrae is also a good base for any sea kayakers wishing to explore with safety support and instruction.

Introductory Sea Kayak Course
Age 16 +
A course for beginners who wish to gain a sound basic knowledge of the skills of the sport.
BCU 1 Star test can be completed on these courses.

Kayak Try a Day
Age 16 +
An opportunity to try kayaking, providing a sound introduction to the sport. The day will be wet, fun and exhilarating. These days can combined with a Dinghy Sailing or Windsurf “Try a Day” to make a weekend of new activities.
Also if you subsequently book onto any of our 2-day kayaking courses the cost of this day will be deducted from that course.

Kayak Evenings and Expedition
Age 16 +
A block of evenings to master the strokes and techniques of sea kayaking culminating in putting all the training into practice on a mini expedition or trip. The options and costs are shown below. Camping equipment can be provided but sleeping bags and mats are required.
Transport is available from and returning to Largs Yacht Haven for the evening sessions picking up 6pm sharp and return for 9pm.
Option 1: Four Wednesday evenings 6-9pm & one saturday
Option 2: Four Wednesday evenings 6 -9 pm & one weekend expedition with overnight camp.
Option 3:Overnight camping expedition for those with previous experience or previously completed evening sessions

Intermediate Sea Kayaking Course
Age 16 +
A course for those who already mastered basic strokes or holds the BCU 1 star certificate. A skills development course to improve personal skills includes an introduction to undertaking short passages. BCU 2 star award can be completed on these courses.
