Junior And Youth Sailing
Junior Courses are aimed at students aged 9 -14 years. Youth courses are aimed at students aged 14 -16 years. Sorry! For safety reasons we cannot accept children that are not 9 years old by the start of the course.
Cumbrae offers excellent courses for young sailors, following the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. We provide an introduction to the sport as well as progression for the more experienced sailor. RYA certificates may be awarded. These are very popular courses so book early to avoid disappointment.
Junior Watersports Saturday Club
Age 9 - 14
Running every Saturday in June these half day clubs offer great fun on the water for youngsters. Chose from a morning 0915 – 1215 or afternoon 1315 – 1615 session. All sessions must be booked and paid for by the block in advance. Refunds cannot be given in the event of non attendance. Transport is available from and to Largs Yacht Haven. Pick up and drop off as session times.

Sunday Session
Age 9 - 16
A course for novices / beginners ideal for those who have participated previously in the Saturday club sessions. This is a chance to concentrate on your dinghy sailing & windsurfing skills by working towards RYA certificates up to RYA level 2. Come along every Sunday for 5 weeks and get some great coaching. Choose either windsurfing or dinghy sailing. Transport is available from and to Largs Yacht Haven. Pick up and drop off as session times. Lunch is included. All sessions must be booked and paid for by the block in advance. Refunds cannot be given in the event of non attendance. Day sessions run from 0915 - 1615hrs for 5 Sundays.

Junior Watersports Courses

RYA Dinghy Sailing Stages 1 - 4
Age 9 - 14
Brilliant courses to start sailing or to improve on those sailing skills. Suitable for all sailors from beginners, RYA stage 1, up to stage 3 (stage 4 can be covered during the course). Students learn quickly in a safe environment under our staffs excellent instruction. These are by far our most popular courses.

RYA Dinghy Sailing Stages 4 Plus
Age 9 - 14
These course cater for all abilities and sailors will be split into appropriate groups based on previous certificates and ability on arrival. Fun and Progression and are the main aims of these higher level courses. Course content will be tailored to suit the requirements of the individual and we will improve knowledge and skills through practical sessions in a variety of boats.

Youth & Junior Dinghy Race Training
Age 9 - 16
Perfect for young sailors who show interest in racing. An introduction to race principles, rules and tactics are integrated with improving sailing and generally making boats go faster. Previous experience and basic competent in singlehanded dinghies is required.

Team 15
Age 9 - 15
A windsurfing club for experienced youngsters who can sail to a RYA Start Windsurfing level 1 standard. Club nights are on a Monday evenings and as well as improving personal sailing the concepts and fun of racing are introduced. Club members go onto compete against other T15 clubs in fun events. Transport available from and to Largs Yacht Haven. Pick up 6pm sharp and return for 9pm. The course is structured to provide sailing in different boats, challenging current abilities and improving skills. It’s an exciting week with guaranteed progression and quality instruction. Youth Cruising Course
Age 14 - 16
Try out big boat sailing and enjoy working as part of a team on one of the centres yachts. Meet at 9am on Saturday morning, get sailing, overnight onboard and return to Largs on Sunday at 4.30pm. Our cruising instructors will ensure you have great fun while develop your big boat sailing skills. Separate boats for male and females but they will cruise in company.
