Skandia Sail for Gold

This week Cumbrae staff are preparing for their trip south to the Olympic sailing venue in Weymouth to support the RYA's Skandia Sail For Gold Regatta (SSFG). By the  closing date for entry their were 1065 sailors entered representing 62 nations, making this the UK's biggest ever dinghy event. The event runs from the 6th - 11th June and  can be followed on the event website.

Sportscotland Cumbrae staff  hold senior positions to help ensure the success of the event out on the water. David Kent is the senior Mark layer on the Match Racing course, David Frame on the Laser course and Rod Smith on Paralympic course. Andy Gibb is  supporting the Field of Play Manager in a Deputy Safety Officer role. Cumbrae will also deliver the Main Safety Briefing and also the Mark layers Briefing to the 150+ volunteers needed to run the event on the water prior to the start of racing.

The journey begins on Saturday with the Cumbrae Landrover loaded with Cumbrae race marks towing our 6.4m RIB south.
