About the Centre
Our chalet style building has excellent indoor facilities with lecture rooms, changing rooms, a drying area and dining room. We also have a comfortable lounge and bar plus sauna and gym facilities, for relaxing in the evenings.
Each chalet has been upgraded and can accommodate 14 people with twin ensuite and bunkbedded options. Each has a lounge area and basic kitchen facilities. The grounds are ideal for the storage of equipment, rigging and preparation, with the beach only metres away.
CATERING
We aim to provide a good choice of wholesome meals and our catering team work from a modern kitchen to provide hot and delicious food.
WHAT WE INCLUDE
Tuition, appropriate craft, waterproofs, wetsuits, wetsuit boots, dinghy suits, meals (unless stated), all transport within the course, tea and coffee, certificates, accommodation (if appropriate), fuel and marina fees when cruising.
WHAT WE DON’T INCLUDE
Travel to the centre, Friday evening meals, log books, towels, insurance, wellies.
SAFETY
We view safety as being of paramount importance. Cumbrae is licensed by the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority and works to the standards of the National Governing Bodies. If you are unsure about you or your child’s ability to participate, please contact the Centre to discuss the course content.
THE INSTRUCTIONAL STAFF
All our full time and seasonal staff are highly qualified and have a great energy and enthusiasm for watersports. They will endeavour to make your stay with us as comfortable and welcoming as possible.
All Instructional staff hold a valid first aid certificate. More information on our staff can be found on our website.
HOW TO GET TO CUMBRAE
The centre is situated on the picturesque island of Great Cumbrae. It is an accessible island from the mainland with a 7 minute ferry crossing from Largs in Ayrshire. Travelling to Largs, take the M8 through Glasgow past the airport onto the A737 then A760.
There is a frequent train service near the ferry terminal to and from Glasgow Central Station with trains running every hour, the journey takes about an hour. The centre is;
• 40 minutes from Glasgow International Airport.
• 30 minutes from Glasgow Prestwick Airport.
• 400m from the ferry slip on Cumbrae. The ferry leaves Largs pier every 15 minutes during the summer.
