The Cumbrae centre is run by sportscotland, the national body for sport development in Scotland. Cumbrae provides coaching at every level in a range of water sports including dinghy sailing, cruising , windsurfing, sea kayaking, powerboating and instructing.
Cumbrae is an RYA training centre. The Royal Yachting Association is the governing body for recreational watersports in the UK. They set the course syllabus, issue certificates and guidelines for Training Centres like Cumbrae to follow. RYA certificates are internationally recognised.
Sportscotland
Sportscotland is the national governing body for sport in Scotland operating three national centres; Cumbrae Inverclyde and Glenmore Lodge. all three centres provide excellent training facilities and resources for a wide variety of indoor and outdoor sports throughout Scotland.
Ocean Youth Trust Scotland and Fairbridge
Cumbrae through it’s staff and Professional Yachtmaster Training course is pleased to be associated with the Ocean Youth Trust Scotland and Fairbridge. Both are Charity organisations running sail training vessels in Scotland for the benefit and development of young people.
Scottish Sailing Institute
Cumbrae is one of the partner organisations that make up the Scottish Sailing Institute. The institute is Scotland’s RYA recognised championship venue for major national and international sailing regattas. The other partners working together to ensure the success of the Institute are sportcotland’ National Centre Incverclyde, Largs Yacht Haven Largs Sailing Club and RYA Scotland.

Cumbrae is pleased to be associated with Gill, a company that makes foul weather clothing. It may not sound glamorous but it is exactly what they do and exactly the environment that our staff find ourselves in.
For over 5 years now Cumbrae has been involved in a partnership with Gill, testing and developing new products and supplying the benefits of their existing products to our clients. We know that when you are out struggling against the elements the last thing you need to worry about is your equipment. Working with Gill helps us to ensure our yachts are equipped with protective clothing that will meet the demands of cruising Scotlands’ West Coast.

Individual Learning Accounts
ILA Scotland is a Scottish Government scheme that helps you pay for learning that you can do at a time, place, pace and in a way to suit you. It's for people 16 or over and living in Scotland, who have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or who are on benefits.
Up to £200 accounts are available if you are interested in learning something new or brushing up your skills. There is a wide range of courses to choose from and you can study with any approved ILA Scotland learning provider.
