Tailored Group Bookings
Welcome to our group booking section. A group we take to be more than 6 people who receive the one invoice. The exception to this is cruising where a group of 5 is permitted. Smaller groups or individuals looking for a course to be run for them should look at our tailored courses section.
As a sportscotland national centre, Cumbrae offers the highest standards off, safety, staff expertise, equipment and facilities at competitively low costs, all factors that are unlikely to be matched by other organisations.
Cruising Groups

- 2 boats available with 5 places each.
- week or weekend bookings
- Cruise in the Firth of Clyde and visit local islands and anchorages.
- Ideal for beginners, mixed experience or groups of more advanced sailors
- Perfect for groups of friends wishing to get RYA cruising certificates
- Excellent yachts and all trips have a qualified Centre Skipper on board
Many individuals through their work place or friends take advantage of this offer and often our two cruising yachts are booked to cruise in company with ten people, two of which do not have to pay! See cruising section.
School and College Groups
- Great island location offering adventure away from home.
- All equipment, instruction, sporting clothing, catering and accommodation included in price.
- Cater for residential groups up to 36 Children or non residential up to 50.
- One Teacher goes free for every 10 pupils
- Tailored activity packages can be from 1 day – 5 days duration.
- Activities to chose from: Sailing, kayaking and windsurfing.
- Mixed or specific activity program options.
- Caters for all ranges of ability and ages 9 – 18.
- Bookings ideally made at least 6 months in advance.

Initially it may be best to call us 01475 530 757 to discuss the preferred dates and the requirements of your proposed visit. Contacting us early increases the chances of availability. We will be happy to chat through with you the issues surrounding bringing a group away and the costs involved. We can also work with you, incorporating your thoughts, and our experiences, to produce a tailored programme.
We are also aware that taking groups away is a big undertaking for the leaders / teachers. To help in the planning stages for a trip, we have prepared downloadable pdf files full of information to help. This information is also available on a CD-Rom by contacting the centre and asking for a “School Pack”. We welcome teachers who wish to visit the centre prior to bringing a group.
Through the Active Schools network we are linked to our local primary and secondary schools to provide activities and Saturday club sessions as part of the Largs Community Sports and Leisure Club.
Other groups

- Activities available: yacht cruising, dinghy sailing, windsurfing and kayaking.
- Power boating arranged for groups wishing to gain RYA certificates
If you are an organisation or individual looking to make up a group please contact us for details of our group booking and pricing policy. We are also happy to welcome self programming groups who just wish to use our facilities and arrange their own itinerary. Small groups of 3 or 4 people should also look to the extra courses page about putting on courses for small groups.
